ELDER

Elder is a genre-pushing rock band that melds heavy psychedelic sounds with progressive elements and evocative soundscapes. Formed in a small coastal town in Massachusetts in the mid-aughts, the band has steadily evolved from a stalwart of the stoner/doom scene into one of the most unique voices in the rock underground. Their long-scale compositions unfold as journeys, running the gamut of styles from the 70s to the present with a penchant for “sheer gatefold-era grandeur” (Rolling Stone).

Beginning with a melodic take on stoner rock, Elder expanded their sound with each release—bringing in elements of post-, prog- and space rock to create ever more immersive and expansive albums. A pivotal stop in Berlin while on tour eventually led to the band relocating there, setting the stage for deeper experimentation and a broader sonic palette.

To date, Elder has released six full-length albums, two EPs, and two live records, with more in the pipeline. From the heaviness of Dead Roots Stirring to the landmark Lore, the motorik drift of The Gold & Silver Sessions, and the progressive sweep of Omens and Innate Passage, the band continues to evolve—stylistically wide open and firmly rooted in the underground.
